We are still live at the KHSAA Boys Sweet 16:
Game 5: Johnson Central v Ballard
Johnson Central had a hard fought battle by drawing the overall favorite for the Sweet 16. The Eagles ran with the Bruins for the entire game but just couldn’t get it done in the end. This game had all the makings of an upset… But a few tough calls and several missed rebounds sealed Johnson Central’s fate. See the box scores here.
Game 6: LexCath v Boyle Co
RUPPSET ALERT: Boyle County battled the favorite LexCath til the end. In a game where LexCath held the lead for 25+ minutes, the resilient Boyle County came out victorious by one point! See the box score here.
Game 7: Bowling Green v Elliott Co
Down goes another Mountain team in this blowout. We really wanted to see Elliott County advance, if for nothing other than Rick Mays, who was crowned a member of the KABC Ring of Honor this week. See the box score here.
Game 8: Calloway Co v Knott Co
Knott Co, home of the 2015 Mr. Basketball Camron Justice, was picked to win this game and even advance to the final four. I haven’t witnessed a player more dominant that Cam in quite a few years… pair him with Evan Hall and the rest of the surrounding cast, Knott Co seemed a shoe-in for the win. This game was a real barn burner, right down to the wire, going into 2OT. However, the moment Cam Justice fouled out seemed to be the turning point in this loss to Calloway. See the box score here.
Tune in later for a recap of today and an updated bracket!
